The Youth Group, with the help of the parents, held a delicious picnic following the worship service. The pulled pork BBQ was donated by Shawn’s Smokehouse and the chicken was donated by The Culpeper Cattle Company. The free will offering collected will help pay expenses for Synod Assembly and other youth trips. Due to chilly weather we held our picnic in the Fellowship Hall and still were able to enjoy an indoor game of corn hole.
Here are (much delayed) pictures of our recent youth trip to New Orleans!

This past Sunday Anita Smallin and Vikki Shelor from Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp came to St. Luke’s. They led a great Sunday School opening, provided special music for the worship service, and celebrated afterwards with s’mores.

Three St. Luke’s Youth and one adult advisor attended 7th Day on March 3-4 in Lynchburg, VA. This excellent event for 5th and 6th graders is led by the Virginia Synod of the ELCA, and the youth had a blast! They are already planning to go again!
The theme for this year was: “Be Humble…Be Exalted…Be in God’s ‘Hood.” Check out the great images below.
6 St. Luke’s Youth and 1 adviser enjoyed a great weekend at Winter Celebration, a Virgina Synod ELCA youth event. Over 375 youth and leaders from all over the state participated at Eagle Eyrie Camp in Lynchburg, VA. The weekend was reinvigorating, full of faith, and surpassed expectations!
The theme was “Called to Peace” based on Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.
The St. Luke’s Youth Group spent this Sunday afternoon wrapping presents for donations. Look at them go!
The donations will help to fund their trip to New Orleans for the 2012 ELCA National Youth Gathering this summer.
We’re pleased to announce ArtReach, a new program that invites Culpeper’s middle and high school students to express themselves and explore the creative process.
On October 15, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church will open its doors to young people who want to try their hand at painting with acrylics and various forms of print-making. The theme this month is Art is SCARY! But we promise it’s also fun.
Come by from noon to 5 and join the creativity!
