Services cancelled for Sunday, Feb. 22

Due to the poor road conditions, service and Sunday School will be cancelled for Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015.  If you would still like to get out and are able to do so safely, services are still on at St. Stephen Episcopal Church and we encourage you to visit our ecumenical partner.  If you choose to stay home, you can read this mornings readings here.

Prayer of the day:

Holy God, heavenly Father,
in the waters of the flood you saved the chosen,
and in the wilderness of temptation you protected your Son from sin.
Renew us in the gift of baptism.
May your holy angels be with us,
that the wicked foe may have no power over us,
through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Lenten Devotions by Email

This Lenten season, you are invited to join in reading the Gospel of Mark.  Each day you will be sent an email with the reading assignment (about half a chapter) and a short devotion on the passage.  Pastor Kate Costa is one of the authors for this study that will draw you into deeper discipleship of Christ.  Through the forty days of Lent you will hear the whole story of Jesus, his walk to the cross, and his resurrection into new life.

New Bible Study on Acts

will begin on Thursday, Jan. 22 at Noon.  Please join us- bagged lunches are welcome!  For preparation, please read the first chapter and the introduction to Acts in a study Bible.

The Acts of the Apostles is an action-packed account of the early church.  As you read, watch for the work of the Holy Spirit- deeds of power, fiery preaching, generous giving, and amazing prison breaks.  And, don’t be surprised if you find the Holy Spirit at work in your own life!
